A park is built atop a close landfill in Chatham County. A series of horizontal vent pipes in gravel packed trenches was installed in the waste and covered before building ball fields on top. Collected gas is vented through the yellow pipes - which double as foul poles for the baseball fields.

A Landfill Gas extraction system designed and built by AEM for a landfill client. This is a small system that doesn't require a flare for off-gas treatment. A system like this costs less than 10% of the costs for a full system including flare.
